Airport BER remains a construction site | Topos conference more relevant than ever

On the 5th of June at Berlin-Tempelhof Topos is holding the conference "Follow Me: Berlin and its Airports" on the future of Tegel, Tempelhof & Gatow, as well as discussing strategic urban-strategies relevant to these redundant airports.

Fire safety, noise and (as we recently discovered) poor project management issues won't feature heavily in our debates, but rather the conversion plans for these sites, and the wider implications for the city of Berlin. This is a broad topic which has never before been discussed in Berlin. Landscape architect Tone Lindheim will also present the former Oslo Airport Fornebu as a planning precedent to discuss.

Please note that the majority of lectures will be given in German, with the exception of Gross.Max, Tone Lindheim and Taktyk, who will present in English.

The Topos Landscape Award 2012 will be presented to the practice Taktyk (Paris & Brussels) as a part of the conference. The prize winners will present among other projects their interdisciplinary research on the Paris Roissy airport.

In the evening Topos and the firms Lorberg and Runge invite conference participants to a boat cruise on the Spree.
