North Wharf Promenade Wins WAN Award
Auckland's new North Wharf Promenade, designed by Taylor Cullity Lethlean and Wraight and Associates, has recently won the World Architecture News Urban Regeneration Award 2012. The award celebrates and promotes the best in international urban design, landscape & infrastructure.
The design, built at Auckland's Wynyard Point, is underpinned by two key moves: "the retention and enhancing of fishing and maritime industries to create new public experiences, and interpreting the site’s peculiar archaeology of patterns and materiality to inform a new public landscape."
The project will feature in the forthcoming edition of Topos: Water Landscapes in a review written by Professor Sue Anne Ware of RMIT University.
