Urban Quality Award documentation now available
Eurohypo AG and Topos magazine presented the Urban Quality Award on 29 November (see Topos 77, page 6), which has now been documented in an accompanying publication. It describes in detail all those projects which achieved an award: the winning design, Ghetto Heroes Square in Krakow by the Krakow-based architects Projektów Lewicki Latak and the two schemes that both made it into second place, Klagesmarkt/Goseriede in Hanover by jbbug from Cologne and Park am Gleisdreieck in Berlin by Atelier Loidl from Berlin.

KARO* architekten from Leipzig received an honorary mention for their open air library Bookmarks Salbke in Magdeburg.
The brochure includes former Federal Government Commissioner for Culture Julian Nida-Rümelin’s speech on the occasion of the award ceremony in which he examines what conditions are needed to accommodate different ways of life and cultures in cities. It also contains a foreword by Thomas Köntgen, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors Eurohypo AG, on sustainable urban design and a piece on urban quality by the Topos and Garten + Landschaft editor in chief Robert Schäfer.
